Manufacturer and brand history

Born from a historic family of winemakers, the Astoria winery opened its doors to the market in 1987, distinguishing itself immediately in the Venetian wine scene for the quality and excellence of its labels. Today Astoria wines are among the most appreciated in the offers of restaurants and wine bars : among these stands out the product par excellence to which the company links its name, Prosecco, in particular Millesimato, thanks to which it has won several prestigious awards, including the Grand Gold Medal at the Verona International Competition. Astoria wines are characterized by balance and elegance, characteristics that fully reflect the environment of cultivation of vines, in the heart of the DOCG Valdobbiadene, at the Tenuta Val de Brun in Refrontolo (TV), in the province of Treviso in Veneto; we are in the North-East of Italy, in the heart of the DOCG Conegliano Valdobbiadene where there is the hilly terroir ideal for the Glera grape, from which originate the various types of sparkling wine protagonist of every aperitif. The labels fully reflect the capabilities and production value of this winery. Astoria is the name of absolute reference for those looking for quality sparkling wines, a stature also certified by the choice made by the organization of the Giro d'Italia, which uses precisely the bottles of the Venetian winery for the awards ceremonies at the end of each stage.
Headed by Paolo and Filippo Polegato, Astoria Wines is among the greatest representatives of the art of Prosecco. The company was born from the passion of a historic family of winemakers, Astoria is today the first private winemaker of Conegliano-Valdobbiadene DOCG and its wines have been celebrated by the most important wine competitions. In 1992 was born the first version of the sweet wine Marzemino passito, which will become a historical protagonist of the wines signed Astoria. In 1993 we dream something different and we present Cold Wine the first sparkling wine in blue bottle. It immediately becomes a must in all the places in Italy, it becomes a reason for study and makes people talk about it for years. 1997, in the tenth anniversary year is the time of the Grand Gold Medal at Vinitaly, international recognition to our best production. The same year, Millesimato, the company’s flagship wine, was created. Created by our Estate Val de Brun in the name of love for our territory. In 2004, Astoria Lounge was born, the golden culture of the aperitif! In 2008 Casa Vittorino and Mina were born, dedicated to the founders of Astoria. They reveal the passion of a family committed to viticulture and sustainable quality for generations. 2010 is the year of 9.5 Cold Wine. The 1993 remake was so successful that it received the highest international wine award : The Grand Gold Medal. 2012, was born the partnership with the Giro d'Italia cycling that lasts for more than 10 years. 2014, Venice Collection was born: six sparkling wines to pay homage to Venice, its history and the millenary wisdom of the master glassmakers. 2018, continues the story of 9.5 Cold Wine, a history of innovation, from wine to packaging, the latter for the first time in the world of wine with exclusive 3D effect foil. 2020, the Fashion Victim line celebrates its fifteen years with 15 collectible bottles, each decorated with a different label to describe all the souls of our Cuvée. A pop and contemporary look to pay tribute to the strength of women and to those who know how to take life with self-irony. 2021, Velére is born the first Prosecco Doc Rosé of the Astoria winery. From the Union of Glera and Pinot Noir comes a bubble with a delicate color and a strong character.
The Tenuta Val de Brun in Refrontolo (TV), which, thanks to its privileged position between the prealpine chain and the lagoon of Venice, gives life to wines of great thickness famous all over the world, is the beating heart of Astoria: more of forty hectares of vineyards surrounded by the scenic Prosecco Hills, a unique landscape recognized by UNESCO World Heritage in 2019 that the company also protects through adherence to the protocol Vignes Fleuries (2014) and SQNPI Certification (National Integrated Production Quality System, 2018). Welcome to the world of Astoria Wines, where nature, taste and ideals are really important. Respect and care are the essential elements of Astoria, ingredients that have helped to trace the path of a thirty-year success. With a long-term vision, Astoria Wines protects and preserves the territory by guaranteeing sustainability, protection and health. Since 2014, the company has joined Vignes fleuries, a protocol developed following the experiences of French winegrowers that has reduced the treatments carried out on the vineyards. Astoria Wines was the first company in Conegliano-Valdobbiadene to obtain the SQNPI Certification (National Integrated Production Quality System), recognizable by the symbol of a bee that stands on the bottles of Prosecco Superiore from the 2018 harvest.

Production process and dealcoholisation method

INNOVATION : the Astoria sparkling wine, as one of the main sponsors in the most important cycling race in the world, is presented at the Giro d'Italia 2024 with a cork derived from sugar cane !!!
“Green” corks are also arriving for sparkling wines. Leading the way Astoria Wines has signed an agreement with the global producer Vinventions for the first use in the world of its new NOMACORC Pops stopper, a stopper for sparkling wines made of plant-based plastic obtained from sugar cane and with zero carbon footprint.
The main feature of this stopper, created after 5 years of research and tests, is to guarantee the same mechanical properties of a normal cork stopper and the optimal conservation of the carbonic gas dissolved in the bottle, but with complete sensorial neutrality and without the risk of TCA (or TriChloroAnisole, the molecule that causes the typical "corky taste" and is usually due to fungi present in cork). But it is also a further step on the path to sustainable development for the wine world, as Antonino La Placa, Sales Director of Vinventions Italy and South East Europe , explains : “Pops offers the competitive advantage of being the only closure for sparkling wines with a net carbon footprint neutral and to be designed to be recyclable".
An innovative project that needed an important sparkling wine brand to be put to the test, and found the ideal partner in Astoria, as Astoria CEO Filippo Polegato says: “We have always been attentive to innovation, continuous improvement and a 360° concept of sustainability (which is social, environmental and cultural) we enthusiastically kicked off this collaboration with a reference company like Vinventions. After months of testing, we decided to debut on a particularly prestigious occasion, the Giro d'Italia 2024 cycling.

You can toast even without alcohol : Astoria wines knows this well. It not only produces a Prosecco that is loved and known the world over, but also wants to entertain those who do not drink or who have already had enough. Out of this desire came Zerotondo 9.5, the first zero-alcohol grape sparkling wine made from white grapes from organic viticulture. Unlike other products on the market, it is not a wine dealcolato through chemical-physical technological operations, but a must stored in special refrigerated tanks, in order to avoid the fermentation process, which is added with carbon dioxide of natural origin before bottling.
Zerotondo 9.5 is made using state-of-the-art technology, which processes the must with a soft pressing and after a short cold maceration, stores it in special refrigerated tanks to prevent fermentation. The white grapes come from organic farming. Before bottling, carbon dioxide of natural origin is added. The colour is straw yellow with golden reflections, brilliant, fresh and fruity aroma, delicately sweet taste. Serve cold at 3-5°C./37.4-41°F.
